About Me

My name is John Bartunek, and I have been making glass art for more than twenty years. Before moving to Minneapolis in 2019, I could regularly be found at art fairs and farmers’ markets in North Dakota. My specialization is fused glass and lampwork jewelry, but I still take on select stained glass projects as my schedule allows. I am a retired educator and owned a music store in Grafton, ND, for forty years. I have two very cool adult children and play the bass in the St. Paul Civic Symphony.

I do most of my sales at events in Minnesota and North Dakota. Please visit my events page to see what I have coming up, or contact me if you are looking for a custom piece.

About Lampwork Glass

Lampwork is a technique of heating rods of glass with a torch until it becomes molten and malleable. Colors can be combined to create intricate patterns in beads and marbles. I have recently begun making icicle-shaped Christmas ornaments.

Some of my jewelry is fused glass, in which shards of glass are laid out in a design and baked in a kiln. Many of these pieces use dichroic glass, a sparkling surface that displays different colors from different angles.

If you are looking for jewelry in a certain color or style, I can work with you to create a special piece or set.

I do my torchwork at Potek Glass in Northeast Minneapolis.
